there is a new smoking ban taking place in Ohio starting today. it bans smoking basically everywhere (practically) but your own home. in one country, they already have a law out making smoking while driving illegal. so, whatever happened to freedom? isn't it enough that people have to go outside on their breaks at work. if you live in apartments or attached condos you are screwed! its about freedom of choice! isn't that what america was based on? why can't people just let people smoke outside wherever? maybe making a 5 foot distance... not 20?!?
by the way, i am not a smoker...

by the way, non-smokers can choose to avoid places with lots of cigarette smoke. that is THEIR choice. where i work, there was one entrance where employees may smoke. the other was a smoke-free zone. in addition, at my univeristy, there was similar smoke-free entrances for those who did not want to walk through smoke. in addition, people not wanting to be around smoke may eat at restauraunts without a smoking section. there is more these days than what you would realize. oh, but bowling alleys and bars... drinking and smoking go together. so many people smoke when they drink. if you don't want to be around smoke, then don't go there! it is that simple!!!
i beleve it is Summit County that has the law against smoking while driving. it is more of a safety issue because it "causes accidents" to light & ash while driving because you take your eye off the road. but if we are going to make a law for safety's sake, then we should also ban eating, cell phones (areas have done), and radios!

okay, so if i don't like this new law, i should go live elsewhere because this is America? America was founded on the basis of freedom. that is WHAT this country brags about- is the freedom and justice... WHAT FREEDOM? so America is not a communist country, and there are much worse places to live. problem being, this is one of many ways in which the American laws and law-makers are going extremely over-board. it is getting to the point where there are more and more laws... if we do not stop such laws while we are ahead, then America will end up being like a communist country.
No... and NO the vote isn't necessarily the majority's feelings on the issue. it was a highly mis-leading ploy to take away freedom. it was not presented clearly. it was also not presented to the public on a large-scale. most people did not even know it was on the ballot. so, there you go. the majority of people do not even vote-- not even for president- let alone on this issue.

Here in America freedom has been replaced by the political correct. Freedoms ones shared by many now are only shared by few.
Lies, propaganda, and of course the American Government have taken control of once was the American peoples freedoms. For the most part the American public is OK with this.
This issue is not the only issue being attacked and taken away from us. It is for "the good of the people". We Americans are no longer able to think for ourselves. Instead the government and those doo gooders have (it looks like) taken away another one of your states freedoms. Next will be the burning of books in your local library, if that is it has not already happened.
However other drugs are out there to be bought and taken at will given to us by the biggest drug pushers, the pharmaceutical companies lining the pockets of the same government employees we elect.
Those who smoke that nasty nicotine can always go into a doctor on any street corner and get a pill to pop two if not three times a day and be perfectly OK with it. It is legal, might do more harm then nicotine but it must be ok.....if not a pill just go in and get the patch or the gum these are legal and sold over the counter in our state.
Who knows what your state's smokers money goes to, our state smokers support our schools and if I remember correctly things such as the cops and fire departments too, but we don't need them do we?
Little things get taken first then bigger and bigger things get taken away, some day kids will be able to get abortions with out there parents knowledge and one can buy alcohol in any grocery store, and we will be hearing of talk of tracking devices put into our cars...oh wait this is already happening.....

Because the modern world is basically turning politically correct fascist and ruled by the nanny state lovers. Everything now is going to get more and more regulated, taxed and enforced electronically. I personally don't want the world we are getting in the next 20 years. We are all too stupid to stop it from happening.
It suits people in power, any people in power to have ultimate leves of control, enforcement and tax so basically unless a great majority of people understand this we will get stuck with this ultra regulation bullshyte that some people believe is such a grand flaming idea. Idiots who value security over freedom, deserve neither.
I do think banning smoking in your own cars is deeply wrong and they should get their lawmaking heads out of their asses on that one. Smoking outside or in seperate areas is far enough. No more regulation for heaven's sake. Otherwise, I pray for an anarchist backlash on this and many other matters in years to come. Safety fascists, ultra political correctness fascists, security and anti terror fascists-these are the new dangers along with religous fundemental fascists of all stripes. Wish they'd curl up and piss off.
Late night working here :-).

No rights or freedoms exist in a vacuum. The rights smokers enjoy cannot be enjoyed at the expense of others...others have to right to be able to breathe fresh and clean air, and not to be at the risk of second hand smoke.
Therefore,if the rights of one group in society (smokers) has to be curtailed for the benefit of another group (non smokers) then thats just the way it is.

i do not think this tale is actual. in the journey that your boss insulted your faith, you've the right to record a criticism. My artwork position has a number of Christians, a minimum of one who's amazingly non secular and continuously has a Bible at her table. we've a minimum of two Jews, one Muslim, one female from India who ought to correctly be both Hindu or Jain, we used to have one Buddhist. maximum persons at my artwork position do not brazenly profess any faith. i'm Baha'i, I have one co-worker who replaced into raised Baha'i yet she doesn't get entangled in Baha'i activities. My spouse is Hindu. I have Baha'i and Hindu pictures and artwork in my place of work. I have a Qur'an and different non secular books which include Baha'i, Taoist, Sufi and Buddhist writings. I have Hindu and Muslim prayer beads brazenly displayed. no human being has ever complained about the non secular stuff I have in my place of work. i do not say some thing about faith except someone asks me. I did experience like i replaced into being careworn at one time, yet that had to do with my having a history of melancholy, rigidity and panic attacks. I were given a letter from my clinical specialist and the harassment stopped. We actually have a lot of brazenly gay human beings at my artwork position. some situations someone suggested some thing controversial about gays even though it by no skill were given to be a significant situation for absolutely everyone so a techniques as i comprehend. i replaced into in an section band that replaced into quite accepted and that i had a band flier on my wall that my boss made me get rid of (the call of the band had the note "homicide" in it). i replaced right into slightly annoyed about it on the time.

The day chocolate, fried foods, and sugar are outlawed for public health safety, is the day I'll believe second hand smoke should be prohibited.

as long as you're doing it in your own home it's fine, but in a place where other people don't want to inhale smoke, of course it should be banned
