Yes, The U.S. sent lots of expeditions to the moon, 6 of which landed on the surface. Twelve American men have walked on the surface of the moon.

Heck, even the Soviets -- our sworn enemies at the time -- admitted that we beat them there.

If you have been reading the sites that claim that it was all a hoax, try reading this site:

www.badastronomy.com

It will debunk all the BS you find in those other sites. Be sure you actually open your mind to the truth.

Yes, don't you think the USSR had the technology to confirm we went to the moon at the time, and yet in the midst of the cold war, they did not contest our claim to have sent people to the moon. If they had evidence we did not, would it not be to their advantage to expose the so called "lie," and humiliate their enemy?

Hah! Not only was it a hoax, the moon's a hoax! There is no outer-space. The entire universe is right here on earth, itself much smaller than most people realize, and all that up in the sky is just a big laser-light show.

So far we've seen no verifiable evidence of other sentient species. That said, I believe with some certainty that somewhere in our galaxy at some past, present, or future time, a sentient species did/does/will exist.

Why haven't we heard from them?

Perhaps they are not technologically advanced enough to be heard. They may be mastering stone knives right now, or experiencing their own Rennaisance.

Perhaps they are here right now. Any species sufficiently advanced to travel interstellar distances would be able to hide or masquerade with ease. That Boeing 737 that just flew by may be a surveillance craft.

Perhaps they are so far away they will never notice us and vice versa.

Perhaps they existed a million years ago and died out.

Perhaps they will exist a million years from now.

It is really impossible to know for sure.

The Drake Equation suggests that there is sentient life out there. The Fermi Paradox casts doubt. Play around with the calculation form at the second link and see what you think.
