true friendship can survive anything including a lie

People these days use the term "friend" very easily. They apply it to include everyone they have ever met and aren't currently fighting with, to those who actually care about them and what happens to them, and all those in between.
You will be lucky indeed if in your entire lifetime the count of the number of real friends you have takes more than one hand.

That being said:
If indeed it were a friend that lied to me, I confront them and would ask them why they did it. Sometimes a friend will lie if they think they are protecting you, and sometimes friends do show their human frailty. If the lie was meant to be malicious and hurtful, then you have found out that who you thought was a friend really isn't. But if you consider them a friend, you must give them a chance to explain and present their side. Or, you are really not their friend.

depends on how severe the lie was and how consistently they lie to me. If it's something stupid like whatever yea I smoke pot. I'd be like whatever she was trying to impress me but if she did that stuff on a regular basis i would stop being her friend just because i don't really know who she is if everything is a lie. I mean liars have the tendency to start out small and become big. In high school i knew a girl who lied about everything but she was such a nice person , i gave her up because it was just annoying not being able to trust her word. I also had a friend who would take pictures of me and send then to men on the internet pretending to be me and inviting them to our dorm. That resulted in her immediate removal from my group of friends. proceed with caution is what i am saying tell them you know they are lying and would appreciate her honesty.

It would somewhat depend on what the lie was about but for the most part, I don't want a liar or a thief as a friend. Trust is a HUGH issue and without it, there is no friendship, realtionship, marriage, etc.

Depending on what it was.

If a friend lied to me saying this guy liked me. I would be mad and emmbarresed cuz i would go up to him and ask to go out and i would get rejection with all my hopes up. So i would confront my friend about it and see why she lied. Did she do it not to hurt my feelings. or did she just do it to see me humiliated?
Depending on wich on if she didnt so i wouldnt get hurt i would thank her but tell her she dosent have to lie to me and i can handle the truth.
I would be mad if she did it so i was humiliated!

Hope that works for you!~

Not trust that friend iit also depends on how bad the lied was and her/his reasons for doing so

i would ask them why they lied and if it was a good reason like not wanting to hurt someone Else's feelings then i would forgive them but it kinda depends on what they lied about. if it was serious don't forgive them

Depends on the situation, I might let it go, I might put 'em on the money!
They may have a good reason for it
stay cool

Feel betrayed and not trust their word ever again. But if they were a good friend otherwise, I'd try to work things out. I'd still watch my back though.
