Ford p/s pumps are bad for that. Take it back and have them fight with it.

While its running is it a metalic sound?? Could be the Alternator Bearings also get some belt lubrication, sometimes can be one of your fan belts. Fan belts usualy squeal on acceleration.
We used to check using a long handled screwdriver and a glass. Put the tip of the screwdriver on the waterpump, Alternator, Idler gear etc, and the base of the glass on the Screwdriver handle, put your ear to the glass, you will soon find out which part is causing it if its a bearing problem. Be careful doing this but it works 100% guaranteed.

I have a 01 ranger too...my belt looked new but started squealing when I started it or when it was cold out...I shrugged it off and then it eventually started squealing all the time. I took it in and had the belt replaced ($60) and that took care of it. Runs/sounds great now.

Hope that helps...
