This is an interesting question ... it mentions that there are eleven states bordering Canada, but I count thirteen -- and two of them aren't mentioned by anyone! Also, a fourteenth state was mentioned by a couple of people, and that state doesn't have a border with Canada at all.

Here are the thirteen, going from west to east. First, there's (1) Alaska, all by itself. For the Lower 48, we have (2) Washington, (3) Idaho, (4) Montana, (5) North Dakota, (6) Minnesota, (7) Michigan, (8) Ohio, (9) Pennsylvania, (10) New York, (11) Vermont, (12) New Hampshire, and (13) Maine.

Nobody mentioned Ohio or Pennsylvania, Both states have shorelines along Lake Erie, and the state borders extend out to the middle of the lake, which is the Canadian border. Canada lies straight across the lake from both Cleveland, Ohio, and Erie, Pennsylvania.

A couple of people mentioned Wisconsin. This state has a shoreline on Lake Superior, but it does not have a border with Canada. Generally, the Canadian border runs through the middle of Lake Superior, but north of Isle Royale (National Park), which is a part of Michigan.

A straight border line extends from the Minnesota-Canada border on the north shore of Lake Superior to the Michigan-Wisconsin border on the south shore. Canada is always north and east of that line, and Wisconsin is always south and west. Michigan and Minnesota share a border, so the result is that Wisconsin is bordered by Minnesota on the north, and by Michigan on the east. There is no Wisconsin-Canada border in the lake.

So the only info in this post is that there are thirteen bordering states, not eleven; that Ohio and Pennsylvania border Canada; and that Wisconsin .
