I have ornaments and stuff but I just don`t know where to start. I put the garland on today but that`s as far as I have gotten.

Why don't you have a tree decorating party and let your friends and family help you.

I always try to start out with a theme. Last year I used only white pearlescent and metallic red xmas balls on the tree. I randomly distributed the balls all over the tree first. THEN I wnet back in and filled in with other types of ornaments to accent the white and red theme (wooden toys, popcorn and cranberry garland... stuff like that). Pick an overall color scheme first and work from there.

Put the larger ornaments near the bottom and the smaller ones near the top, and so on. You may not be able to put an ornament on every limb but keeping them around a foot apart looks nice. If the tree is against a wall or in a corner, don't worry about putting ornaments in the back, you wont see much of them anyway.

1) String lights around the tree by starting at the top and keep going around the tree until you have put all the lights on.
2) Hang your ornaments
3) Add garland last.
4) Plug the lights into an outlet
5) Enoy

Start at the top with the smallest ornaments and then work you way down and around, whatever makes you happy. And do it with a friend or family member. Always more fun that way.
BTW, garland is usually put on last but you can always set a precedent, right?
Merry Christmas!
