because of the process in which it is made, it is a non ferrous metal and it is very durable

others cost more though, such as copper and such

so be glad it costs what it does, it could cost alot more easily

Stainless steels are high-alloy steels that have superior corrosion resistance than other steels because they contain large amounts of chromium. Stainless steels can contain anywhere from 4-30 percent chromium, however most contain around 10 percent.

Chromium is much more expensive than iron.

Stainless steel contains, Nichol, the more nichol the better grade of stainless...and stainless steel is not a plating process ...I hope this helps you... Good luck

And I think it's more of what's ON it that actually IN it...steel is steel.....it's rather like galvanizing........
