Does anyone know where I could get a decent free firewall, I am having problems when connected to the internet and my Norton has disabled itself and won't come back on!!!

I recommend zone alarm personal. It blocks inbound and outbound traffic, and asks for permission for each program to access the internet. It is free from zonelabs.com. I hope this helps!

If Norton Antivirus (NAV) has disabled itself and won't come back on chances are you already have a virus. That being said instead of Norton I use Avast Antivirus. The great thing is it's totally free and actually works better (in my experience.) For free firewall I would try Zone Alarm. Avast also offers an online scanner to check your hard drive so you may want to try that to clean up whatever problem you already have. If that doesn't work you may be looking at a total re-install of your software. When it doubt always backup your personal documents (photos etc.) If you're not comfortable or capable of fixing a virus on your computer you may want to take it somewhere or call your computer's manufacturer.

Awesome little firewall that works great right out of the box is one made by Comodo. Very easy to use.

The only firewall that doesn't leak
Unfortunately, most firewalls leak. But Comodo's Firewall is unique in that it passes all known leak tests to ensure the integrity of data entering and exiting your system. Comodo has put firewall through all kinds of sophisticated tests to ensure its firewall powerful enough to ward off these attacks with default settings. No other firewall has had to work this hard.

you can download the ZoneAlarm firewall, and regarding to your Norton you probably haven't registered it, so my advice is to un install it and install a new anti virus along with ZoneAlarm firewall
