When rock is releases from the mantle, a large amount of that pressure goes away, and the rock is free to liquefy, forming molten rock, or magma. This magma pushes against the crust of the earth. When this happens, the crust heaves upwards, forming a mountain. The crust can crack, then forming a vent through which the magma can escape, and the result is a volcano. Hope this helps!
