It depends on what is being tested.

For beauty supplies and such, I think that animal testing is unnecessary, and thus wrong. Shampoos and conditioners shouldn't be tested on poor animals.

However when it comes to medical treatment, I'm all for animals testing the drugs before any humans actually try it out. Because honestly, I would rather have a few lab rats die while testing a drug than someones mother.

I am totally against animal testing. Imagine if you were in that animal's place. You did nothing wrong, and BAM! people start testing on you. People do not think twice about how the animals feel. I even have a business that earns money to help out Animal Shelters so that the animals could lead better lives and not become used for testing. Our website is sandrshelterhelpers.com, if you would like to visit it. Thanks!

Personally, it depends on the testing. But in reality there are a lot of rules and regulations regarding animal testing for biomedical research. For instance, a research facility needs to have a veterinarian trained in research animals inspect your holding facility and the animals in it twice a year. If anything is not up to standards, your funding could be cut. And if it gets bad enough, you could be charged with criminal penalties.

You are not allowed to perform multiple major surgeries (unless over-ruled in commitee based on overwhelming scientific justification), or needlessly cause pain on any protected animal. Pain is defined as anything a human (including a child) would consider painful. And concerning the comment made about how it's okay on lab rats... rats and mice bred for research purposes are not protected, at least not at my university as I understand it. You can pretty much do whatever you want to them, but I think they still need to be housed humanely and analgesics are supposed to be used during surgery. But that surgery can be done in the lab; it doesn't need to happen in a sterile surgery room.

I personally am starting work on animal testing. We are training South American Opossums to walk down hill on a treadmill. Is that cruel or wrong? They get plenty of breaks, with a cricket for a treat at each break, plus time to relax and groom or do whatever opossums do. They are kept in a cage very similar to a hampster cage for your kid's pet. They have food, water and exercise, and are perfectly healthy little opossums. But it's animal testing, so should we stop because it's cruel, mean, and unnecessary? The big picture is that our research is to help develope aerobic and cardio exercise methods for people who cannot perform hard work, such as the elderly.

first off try proofreading... it took me a minute to get what you were trying to ask!
Secondly... why?
There are a million websites out there for and against. Check them out... all you have to do is type in animal testing and "look out"!!
my opinion is-- it is not a pleasant topic but if it didn't occur we wouldn't have the advances in the medical field and a whole lot of diseases with cures would be running rampant. We have a lot of thanking to do to our animal friends!!

I don't believe in vivisection. Just because an animal is of lower intelligence than that of humans, does not give us the right to take their life, in order to preserve/extend ours.

I saw a stand up comedian once who put it best (wish I could remember his name so I could give him full credit).

"Hey, if electrocuting a couple of monkeys will someday keep someone I love from dying of cancer, I only have one thing to say.... red is positive and black is negative!"
