I work at HD supply, a plumbing and HVAC supply warehouse. Just recently My boss changed our hours from 2:00pm to 11:00pm, forcing us totake an hour lunch. He states that it is a california law that if you work in a warehouse that you must take an hour lunch.

If an employee works more than five hours, an unpaid thirty minute meal period is required. The exception to this policy is if the employee works less than six hours, and both the employer and the employee agree to waive the meal period.

Your company may have a policy requiring 1 hour meal period, but it is not the law.

Don't listen to the others, as they have not actually bothered to look it up. The mandatory meal period is 30 minutes. Read the California law in the link I gave you.

That's pretty common.

If you work more than 6 hours you are required to take an hour for lunch.

It really sux if you work part-time, because if you work only 6 hours a day, you are forced to stay a 7th because of lunch. So you really only have the option of 5 hours or 7 hours.
