I am just curious, I am going to be watching a 3 week old baby, for six days more in likely full time, would this be a good pricefor 8 hours or under $20 a day and 8 hours or more $2.50 per hour, do you think that is good pricing, I have been sitting for a very long time mostly for people I know, and I am always getting ripped off, so I am wondering if this is a good price that isnt too pricy, or if you have a better pricing could you let me know?

I am 22, have been sitting since about 15 I am CPR Cert. and fingerprinted, I have experience with children with dissability, I have a 3 yr old son myself, and am 7 months pregnant, it will be at my home, it is just I know my cousin is ripping me off right now wich is stopping this month I watch her 3 kids, for 11 hours a day, 3 days for two weeks and get paid every other week only $125, so I know she is riping me off it is only 1.25 per kid, so that is stopping this month I told her I wanted atleast a month or two from babysitting them cause they are sick every other week if not every week, and gets me and my three year old sick, but I told her I wanted some time off before I have my baby that is Due March 1st.

you should at least get $30-$40/day, in your home or if your nannying you should get at least $10/hour

I think you're doing good with $20 for the eight hours, then charge more after that. I know what you mean though about getting ripped off and I have been ripped off on the other end. I had a 9 month old that I dropped off at a lady's house (a friend) for 3 hours and she made me pay her $25 for the three hours. I didn't know that until the end of the week (I only left him there 3 days for 3 hours each) and she said that will be $75. I was stunned, so I think you are very reasonable, see I never took my son back there after that happened...and most people won't if you over charge.

I would charge 25 dollars a day or 125 a week, that would be more than reasonable since daycare usually runs around 145 and they don't take babies younger than 6 weeks old. Charge extra if the hours go over 40, I would say 3 dollars an hour.

I would charge $25 a day, and then $2.50 an hour for ever hour over. You have a LOT of responsibility with a 3 week old baby, and to put the child in a daycare...it would cost a LOT more than that.

I worked at a daycare and our price was around $33 per day ( for 8 or 9 hours i believe, it was state ran, so it was rather cheap). I'd ask for at lest $27 for 9 hours, taking in consideration for travel time to work and back to get their baby. If they are any later then that i'd charge somewhere between $2.75 and $3 per hour they are late. If they call and say that they are running late, you can give them a break but if they don't then i'd charge them the $3. You're watching their kid and they need to have respect enough to call if they're going to be late and if not they need to fork out the extra for your inconveniance. good luck.

For a newborn that is an amazing price. I have been calling around to see what day care will cost when I have my baby and I am being told anywhere from $575 to $800 an month for 5 days a week. In home day cares are usually less expensive than centers. I have been quoted $425 - $550 from in homes.

With a newborn, I paid an individual $80 - $100 per week and at a Daycare facility I paid $185 per week. Newborns need a lot more care, so I would start out at $100 - $125 per week and then as the baby gets older, drop the charges. Like - at a year old drop down to $80 - $100 per week and then leave it there. Good Luck!

If you keeping the child all day, you are charging WAY too little. You're not even getting minimum wage.
I would say $50 at least per day and $6 an hour. That would be minimum. And, increase if there are more children.

My son goes to daycare and had since he was 1. I pay my daycare lady $35 canadian a day to look after my son. People think htat is a lot...but break it dwon its only about $5.00 an hour. So don't short change yourself as you ahve a huge responsibility in looking after children and especially a 3 week old baby.

In my area that's insanely cheap. I pay 250 a week for my 18 month old daughters daycare and consider it cheap. In my area if you pay less than that you're not getting anywhere near the safe amount of care that I think she needs. Trust me we had her somewhere else (cheaper) and she did horribly and got hurt much too often. The extra 50 was definitely worth it. You should seriously up your prices. They shouldn't be taking advantage of you like that.
