We elect the electoral college, and most states have passed laws that essentially require that the electors respect the wishes of the majority of voters is the state or district they are representing. There has never been an election where the results from the electoral college did not match those that were predicted based on the winners in each state and how many electors they have. We DO elect the president, just not directly. It's not as simple has "having no say."

We didn't elect the CURRENT president, but that is the first time in history and wasn't due to the electoral college. Rather to votes not being counted (Florida, 2000), and voting machines and absentee ballots being systematically withheld from democratic voters (Ohio, 2004). That was the result of corruption and fraud, not the system by which the president is supposed to be elected. Although it is worth noting that the outcome of the 2000 election would have been different without the electoral college, we did still get to vote it's just that some votes counted for more than others.

You're wrong Mr. M. We vote for the candidate of our choice, whichever candidate has received the popular vote of any particular state, then that candidate receives ALL the electoral votes of that state. The only state that sometimes splits it's electoral votes is Colorado. If no candidate receives the 271 electoral votes needed, the vote then goes to the full house of Congress and they vote for the candidate of their choice. Or, in the 2000 elcection debacle, the Supreme Court decides.

Of course I know this. But did you know that the president is not the president of the American people? He is the president of the states. He is elected by the states to preside over them. He does not preside over us.

You are simply incorrect in your statements. The electoral college reflects the popular vote in each state. In most states they are required by law to do so. In no state ever has the electoral vote not matched the popular vote for that state.

Bush has won two elections fair and square. There was no fraud or corruption as some sore loser liberals like to claim. It simply isn't true, and they can't provide any facts to show that it is, just sour grapes.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Technically we are electing electors. We all know this from 7th grade social studies. It's worked pretty well for 200 odd years, so I'm not too worried.

We elect the Electoral College, and they elect the president.

Thank God for that. If overall population was the only consideration then Dems would win every election because they own the inner city apes.
