I agree that it should be "fixed," but I put that in quotations because not everyone agrees it is broken. What you want is government provided healthcare (and it is what I want also), but it will mean a rise in taxes to pay for it. When people fight against it, it is because they don't want to pay higher taxes so those who don't pay taxes (the poor, illegal immigrants, those on welfare) get it to without doing the work. I made it sound bad, essentially they don't want to pay for lazy ones.
I don't like the idea of paying for lazy ones, but if I have to pay for them to help the less fortunate ones then I'm willing to make that trade. But I fully understand others not wanting to do so.
Democrats agree with me, but even when they have control of Congress they won't have enough support to pass a healthcare system run by the government. They might (and I stress might, not definitely will) have the support in the House of Representatives, but they don't have it in the Senate. The Senate will most likely shoot it down. Added to that, Bush doesn't agree with government run healthcare and he can veto the bill; which I believe he would if it came across his desk.
So the Democrats might try (and again I stress might try, not definitely will), but don't look for it to pass. I believe our healthcare will be left in the "caring" hands of the insurance companies and HMO's.

By implementing a socialized program ?? No . Have you looked into these "free" health care systems?? Europe has basically two types of healthcare financing systems: the single payer systems, in which healthcare is paid for and organised by the government with money from income taxes as in Britain and Sweden,or the social insurance or sickness fund systems as in Germany and France, in which healthcare is financed through mandatory premiums calculated as a percentage of wages.European countries provide more equity in healthcare than the United States by increasingly shifting the price tag for healthcare to the next generation, by rationing health to the elderly. As a result, access of patients to costly healthcare services is being restricted everywhere. The only ones who escape this are the privately insured patients. Usually a citizen takes private insurance on top of statutory or official health insurance in order to cover certain medical treatments that are not – or no longer – provided by the official system. Another words those who can afford to pay twice for healthcare and, on the other hand, those who cannot and are trapped within the official system. These countries provide “free” health care not in the sense of the “free” services provided by the so-called solidarity based systems but in the sense that people are free (at least to a certain extent) to decide how they wish to finance their healthcare. Most never get to that point and have to stay in what they call "the sick fund".
It is not up to our government to decide what kind of health care is right for the whole country , this is not nor should we allow it to become a solcialist governed nation.

Do you know that Nevada provides healthcare to all it's workers? Do you know that if you had an accident on a friday and it was not a matter of live and death you wouldn't see the doctor until monday. That's what happen to my sister in law. She required surgery broken bones etc. Is that the type of health care you want? Where you have to wait for months to see a doctor because they are so short staffed. You don't think a doctor is going to do all that work for peanuts do you? Our system right now Rots however at least we can see a doctor in an emergency.
You know that cuba has socialize medicine? But very few doctors. Why bother going through all that schooling only to have bell hops making as much money as you do.

So if it is your right to have healthcare regardless of what you do then I am going to quit working and let you pay for me and my bills with your taxes. No one has a right to anything they do not earn or deserve. I do believe all employers should offer healthcare benefits to all their employees at a reasonable cost, however in order to provide a reasonable cost the health care companies and providers need to stop raping us on costs. No one however should get anything for free, as that means us taxpayers are paying for someone to be lazy. It is also a known fact anything received for free is not respected as if you earned it, and this would translate to healthcare as those not paying for it would not at least try to stay healthy as they have no reason to cause the rest of us pay to make sure that they get medical care. Freedom does not mean that you can have what you want even if you don't earn it. However it does mean that we should have the right to be free from each other if we choose to especially financially.

National Health care is estimated to cost American tax payers 339 billion dollars per year. Imagine the tax hike that would incur.
For all that tax money, we would buy surprisingly little health care.
The one common characteristic of all national health care systems is a shortage of services. For example, in Great Britain, a country with a population of only 55 million, more than 800,000 patients are waiting for surgery. In New Zealand, a country with a population of just 3 million, the surgery waiting list now exceeds 50,000. In Sweden the wait for heart x-rays is more than 11 months. Heart surgery can take an additional 8 months. In Canada the wait for hip replacement surgery is nearly 10 months; for a mammogram, 2.5 months; for a pap smear, 5 months. Surgeons in Canada report that, for heart patients, the danger of dying on the waiting list now exceeds the danger of dying on the operating table. According to Alice Baumgart, president of the Canadian Nurses Association, emergency rooms are so overcrowded that patients awaiting treatment frequently line the corridors.
This is just a few of the follies we would face. I see some people parising theses country's health care systems, yet they really don't know much about them and what really happens.
In the end, we lose money and health care we could have gotten in an emergency room. National health care is not for us....
My suggestion is to educate yourself on how the system would work and see for yourself. Because, I don't want to have to wait for healthcare when I get seen same day now. And i don't want to have to pay for everyone elses health care when they don't work.

the fundamental problems with wellbeing care in u . s . of america is that we pay too lots for the outcomes that we get because of fact somebody else will pay for wellbeing care, the two an employer or the government. we would desire to bypass to a device the place persons might desire to purchase medical wellbeing coverage on their very own. To get that device and supply the alternative of protecting what you, the homestead bill replaced into designed with that purpose in techniques. below the homestead bill, the uninsured might desire to purchase a individual coverage. To offset the interior maximum coverage plans with severe overhead costs, the popular public selection is presented, yet no longer required. Later, employers sign in on the replace. to make particular the fees and hazards are unfold, there is an employer and individual mandate.

Give me give me give me. How about getting job and getting health insurance. I lived under the health care system in Britain. Believe me, you don't want that. It is archaic, and sometimes even barbaric. How is it your right? I have taught government, at college level for many years and am still amazed at your type of people who think you have certain rights.

As long as I have a job I will continue to pay taxes and support all the freeloaders who live off the government, I am a single mother of 3 and have never needed government assistance. Weird huh??? I pay $500 a month for health insurance, I don't expect to get it free. If you don't like this nation, find another.

The democrats will do what democrats always do. Tax the people and businesses into the poor house, destroy our national defense systems, create more political giveaways and attempt to turn our society from one of democracy to one of socialism.
