First of all to solve the problem you need to know the slope-intercept equation: y=mx + b

Also the Y-intercept is (0,b)
The X intercept is (a,0)

For the first problem your y intercept is whatever "b" is. In this case the y intercept is 5.

Now for the slope. The slope is your rise/run or y2-y1/x2-x1 or -y1-y2/-x1-x2. Also, in the slope-intercept form, the slope is m. In the case of the first problem, y=3x+5, the slope is 3 because looking at our formula y=mx+b, "3" is in the place where the slope is.

Now for problems with a coefficient that is NOT equal to 1, such as your problem 2y=4x1, you need to get the problem in y=mx+b form. To do so, divide by each term in the problem to get y by itself. (2y/2 is 1, or "y", 4x/2 is 2x, and -1/2 is -1/2.) You have now rewritten the problem in the correct form. y=2x-1/2.

Lastly, we come to a problem where we need to rearrange the equation. The fifth problem is a great example on how to do this.To get your problem in the correct form you need to subtract -3x from both sides. You are subtracting a -3x from both sides because you have a positive 3x. To get the -4y by itself, you need to subtract from both sides. Once you do that, the problem will read:

-4y=-3x+8

You now need to divide all terms in the equation by a -4. You will end up with y=3/4x-2. Remeber that when you divide -4 into a -3, you end up with a positive 3/4, because a negative divided by a negative is a positive.

for the typical formula of y = m*x + b, m will be the slope and b will be the y intercept. You should do some algebra to get them into that form.

For starters:
2y = 4x - 1 divided both sides by 2

2y/2 = y
4x/2 = 2x
(-1)/2 = -(1/2)

this leaves you with y = 2x - 1/2
looking back at y = mx + b you can see that m = 2 and b = -1/2

the slope is what comes before the x..so transform the other equations so that they look like the first one...the y intercept is the number thats all by itself...
a = 3 , 5
b = 1/2 , 3
c = 2 , -1/2
d = -2/3 , 3
e = 3/4 , -2

Pick out random values for x and y that satisfies the equation so for a if if x=2 then y=11 and if x=1 then y=8 I did this by pluging in the values. Then you use the slope formula y2-y1/x2-x1 which in this case would be 11-8/2-1=3

Basic equation of a line is Y = mX + b, where m is the slope and b is the y-intercept. Convert your above equations to this form and the slope is the X coefficient.

Solve each for y. The coefficient(the number before x) is your slope. The constant is your y intercept.

For the first one, it is already in y= form. So the slope is 3 and the y intercept is at (0,5)
