Best recording of a Christmas tune:

Silent Night, by Stevie Nicks -- beautiful voice singing one of the most beautiful melodies ever written.

Best original Christmas tune:
Christmas in the Drunk Tank, by the Pogues -- it's joyous, sad, funny, and great.

The problem with Christmas music is that it comes around every year, so people get tired of it; the classics have been redone so many times you tire of them, and when somebody records an original Christmas tune, it just doesn't hold up next to the beautifully written classics, so you lose either way. . .

but those two (and Walkin In A Winter Wonderland, by Annie Lennox, despite being overplayed) broke through my jaded bubble.

although there are many great christmas songs out which would be hard to choose, one that i think is the best at telling the story of jesuses birth would be Nat King Cole= OH HOLY NIGHT. a most joyouse and emotional song. A true tribute to this time of the year.

Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas by Judy Garland. It is a Christmas song that is tinged with sadness. Gets me every time.
