For example:
Thursday Night's NFL Game
Cleveland @ Pittsburgh....
IF I look up the odds it says
Cleveland 33.5
Pittsburgh -7.5

Does this mean they predict Pittsburgh will lose by 7.5 points or what??

Thank you!

GO STEELERS! :)

No, it means that Pittsburgh is favored by 7.5 points. So, if you bet on Pittsburgh, you'd be betting on them to win by enough that, if you subtracted 7.5 points from their total, they'd still be victorious.

The favored team always has the "-" and the underdog gets the "+" symbol, so you could also pick "Cleveland +7.5" for that game.

The 33.5 number is just the over/under, as you can also bet on the total number of points scored by both teams. I'm guessing you may already know that one, but thought I'd include it just in case.

Pittsburgh is favored by 7.5 and the total (over/under) of the game. No, these are not predictions. These are lines for sportsbettors/gamblers. The underdog here is Cleveland 7.5. If you bet on Pittsburgh -7.5, it means that in order for you to win the bet, they have to win by 8 points or more. If you take Cleveland +7.5, in order for you to win the bet, they have to lose by less than 8 points or win. The 33.5 is what they called the Over/Under line. If you take the Under 33.5, you win if the total score of the game is less than 34.

The prediction is that the Steelers will win by at least 8 points or more.
The 33.5 is a prediction of the total points scored by both teams.
The reason for the 1/2 points is so no bets will end in a tie.
