it was on the laguna beach current season...an alternative mellow song and the guy sounds like from maroon five or something along the lines of that....it goes like its so highhhhh

I don't watch that show, or MTV in general, but that kinda sounds like a Radiohead song, "high and dry"
a portion of the lyrics goes:
Don't leave me highhhhhhh, don't leave me dryyyyyyyyyy
But I really doubt they would let their music be on that show.

That sounds like Rollins Band. I saw them years back, before I actually liked them, and he was onstage singing that for a while.
