Not really! The words are generally updated keeping in mind current trends and words that are used more often. Although they do give partial preference to Scabble players by adding new words like Za, Qi etc. which I feel is justified. Maybe it takes the skill out of Scrabble, some may argue, but as it is equal for both players, they both have a chance to get some nice points!
And if you keep yourself up-to-date with the dictionaries you will see that the changes are very logical and you can anticipate them too. I for myself, do read the word list everyday. If you want, check out more info on Scrabble dictionaries at http://www.scrabulous.com/scrabble_dictionary.php
You can find both SOWPODS and TWL at Scrabulous.

No of course not. That would entirely defeat the point. Every word in the Scrabble dictionary can be found in any reasonably good dictionary.

As I recall, all the words in a Scrabble dictionary are the same ones you'll find in the Merriam-Webster dictionary. There are many uncommon words, of course (an average person's vocabulary in 25,000 out of the estimated 690,000 English words) but nothing you won't find in a standard dictionary.

No, none of the words in the Scrabble dictionary are made up. If you check all the words in Webster's Dictionary, they are all there. Some of the words are strange, but they are just derived from other cultures.

I'm not sure you can have more than one foreskin, which would make it inappropriate to plural it. I had a similar situation, though. I put "mis" in front of "define", adding another d at the end for misdefined. It wasn't in the Scrabble dictionary, though, so it wasn't allowed. Too bad, it was about a 70 point word.
