comma splice - Two sentences (independent clauses) that are joined to make a compound sentence have to have a comma AND a coordinating conjunction (remember FANBOYS - for, and, nor, but, or, yet, so) OR be joined by a semi-colon. Using ONLY a comma is a comma splice, and you will be arrested by the grammar police! Rewrite it - Dr. Frankenstein flung a power switch, causing blue streamers of static electricity to crackle about the table. . .
