Well, the paper has to be on a man who has contributed to the women movement or has contributed to the rights of women. Just give a name and more if possible. I've done reseach, but still can't seem to find anyone.

* Frederick Douglass ran as Vice Presidential candidate under the Equal Rights Party with Victoria Woodhull, the first woman to run for President. They were trying to make a statement that both women's and black suffrage were common issues of human rights, and not race or gender alone.

* Martin Luther King Jr.'s fight for "civil rights" also went beyond race and resulted in helping all classes of people disenfranchised as a minority. His campaign for civil rights and equal protection is used today for a variety of purposes, including gender equality.

* Controversial one -- depending if you feel Christianity has helped or hurt women -- but Jesus Christ spoke to women as equals, and even sought fellowship with prostitutes, at a time this was looked down upon or forbidden. He defended a condemned adulteress and prevented her from being stoned to death.

Many people criticize Christianity for promoting patriarchy and discrimination, but there is a growing movement for Biblical and Christian feminism, and for the true message of Jesus to restore spiritual equality where there is no male or female but all are one in Christ.

Founder of the Bahai faith taught that education should be concentrated on daughters and women, first and foremost, in order to invest in social change and overcome the imbalances and injustice of the past. Also, the Nation of Islam teaches that respect for the Mother and for Women comes first, so they empower their women leaders equally as their male counterparts, although prevailing cultural traditions continue to emphasize male leaders in the media.
