My mother and Father don't want to let me. They complained that
1) its too expensive - (money is in no way, shape, or form an issue for my family, we are more than well off)
2) that they couldn't "Be there" for me - they arent "there" for me now, why would it matter?

its all very frustrating because I realllly realllly realllly want to go, but I feel like theres no way around this and that I'd just have to wait till college, which I really, don't want to, but if worse comes to worse it's what i'll have to do, but what are some good ideas to have them agree with me, or convince them that I am mature enough to go.

Do some research, and work out a list of pros and cons. Then, for every con, find an opposing arguement. Once you have detailed information, your parents may listen more closely to what you are saying. Hopefully, every arguement they make about why you shouldn't do it is something that you have already put on your con list; that way, you can refer to your opposing arguement. Gosh, reading back on what I wrote, I hope it makes sense!

In any case, do your research, find ways to shoot down their arguements against it with FACTS. Try to keep your emotions in check - if things are not going your way, don't get very visibly upset, just refer to your research. And good luck, hopefully they will see that you are mature enough to handle being that far away from your family.

Find a good exchange program ( EF exchanges are really good and well planned out, plus they really focus on education so your parents will love it). On the website you can request a brochure and then look it over yourself to see if you would like and then show it to your parents. IThey have semester and full year exchanges, so if your parents won't go for the full year - ask them to go for at least a semester. 'm sure they will show some hesintancy towards it (they don't want their child to move away - try and put yourself in their shoes ! lol) but if you really prove yourself and get accepted by the exchange program then I'm sure your parents will let you have that great experience! Good luck!!
