Also speak to the Dr that prescribed it and your pharmacist that filled it.
Side effects vary from person to person. You are not guaranteed to have the same side effects as another woman taking them.
As far as paying for them. If you don't have insurance you can sometimes get them through Planned parenthood/ Family planning for a lower price.
Also depending on your income you could get medicaid which can pay almost if not all of your medical expenses.

Birth control should have been fully explained by the doctor, and if he/she asked do you have any questions, and you didn't open your mouth, then there ya go....

To answer your question, you start taking your pills either on the 1st Sunday after your period starts OR on the first day your period starts, depending on what your doctor told you. Then you take one pill every day till you reach the end of your pack then you start a new one.

Most BC is covered by insurance. If you don't have insurance, go to Planned Parenthood and they can help you out with low or no cost BC.

You really should call your doctor and ask HIM or HER when you should start taking your pills, and be sure to follow their instructions to the letter. And remember to ask questions of the medical professional when you're there!!
