i had an abortion 4 months ago and went straight onto the pill. I had my periods but they were very light compared to before. I have taken the pill faithfully but feeling tired and naseaous and probably sound very paranoid as i am worried i may be pregnant again. I recently turned 18 and before theres comments on murder etc, i would also like to say that i do regret it despite the situation i was/am in (A Levels). Helpful answers only please.

I have been with my boyfried for a year and a half and we are really happy. We also do use condoms as we have been very conscious of risks since it happened.

The pill does tend to make your periods lighter. The packets they come in should have details of side effects enclosed (ask the chemist for info as they may have taken them out). I know it sometimes causes headaches. I suspect you are feeling tired because you have been through what amounts to an operation, and have /still are, recovering from a big emotional experience. Some pain killers make you feel sick, especially those prescribed by the doctor. He will alter them for you if you're on any and this happens.
The thing is that there are a variety of contraceptive pills on the market, and sometimes you have to change. It could be that you are just not on the right one for you. I do strongly recommend going to a family planning clinic in preference to a GP though as you get better overall treatment (however nice your doc is). And don't stop taking the pills!

first thing to do is take a pregnancy test just to put your mind at ease.
have you been on the pill before? if this is your first time then you have probably got the wrong one, when i went on the pill i had the wrong one first so i went back to the doctor and he changed it, my periods used to be very heavy, since being on the pill they are very light and no period pains.
If your pregnancy test is negative, it could be stress making you feel ill too, a levels and having a abortion will be playing on your mind. (your reasons for a abortion shouldn't come into this, you did what you thought was best for you at the time, don't let anyone get you down with nasty comments)

Go back and get your case reviewed as you may need a different contraceptive pill.

Or it could be that your body has not settled down yet following the abortion and the associated guilt.

My neighbour's fourteen year old daughter had an abortion just over a month ago and is a changed child.

Well done you for making a difficult decision now go get on with the rest of your life

If you have been taking the pill properly and using condoms properly at the same time then there can be no way that you are pregnant.
I have a friend who was on the pill and also using condoms and the condom broke so she went to the doctor to get the morning after pill and the doctor just laughed at her and told her to go away.

I would just like to say if your not pregnant, change your method of contraception. Do not believe what the girl said bout you. It is a very traumatic thing having an abortion, i helped a friend after one. I myself do not believe in them, but can understand how in certian circumstances this does have to happen. You are not a murderer, you are a girl who in lifes wants better for yourself, and eventually your family. All i can say i hope things turn out well for you. Take care.

On the pill your periods are lighter the pill is not 100% but very close if you are worried get a test
Please use a condom along with the pill if you are active there is more than pregnancies to fear out there
good luck to you

I got pregnant while on the pill, it is only 98% effective or something, so there is a chance. However if you used a condom also then that would have to be some serious bad luck.

i would check with your doctor as your probably taking the wrong type of pill i had to change mine as i had terrible migraines and a temper like the devil ,and light periods are normal with the pill, so is bleeding a bit in middle of month if your stressed or overtired i checked that with the doctor myself too
