I was given a school assignment reguarding a novel called "Anthem"
On the assignment sheet it says: In a well developed essay, discuss Rand's message regarding the necessity of individuality and the dangers of conformity as depicted in the novel "Anthem". Cite examples from the text to support your statements.
You must write in the third person; therefore unless you are using a pronoun as an example your pronouns must be third person. You need to be sure to use literary present tense when writing.

Can you please put that in english because I don't understand what i am supposed to do.

Your teacher wants you to explain why Rand (the author) thinks that it is more important to be your own person and do what YOU think is right rather than just go along (conform) to everyone else's standards. You have to give examples from the novel (Use exact quotes because you've been instructed to "cite" examples.)
When you write, don't use first person point of view (I think, in my opinion, etc.) and don't use second person point of view (as you can see, or you should always, etc.). Write in third person point of view (Rand believes that all people should . . . and that one should never....). Write your entire paper in present tense - no past tense words (say "People walk through life..." rather than "People have walked through life. . .)

You have to write a good easy a tell what Rand's message was on the necessity of individuality and the dangers of acting like other people. Also put examples of individuality and conformity from the book. Write the essay in third person and write in the present tense.

It is in english. You just have to break it down. I will put it in simpleton's terms for you: Write a GOOD essay and discuss rand's message regarding the importance of being an individual and the dangers of conforming to society(in reference to novel). Conforming to society means you are following the crowd and not really being an individual. You can't use the words I or me i think. Cite examples and don't use past tense.

Well, part of your question can be found at:
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20061113191456AAHKkKO
meaning you write as though you were someone else telling what has already happened.
"Mary fell upon the sword, screaming and writhing in pain."
Other than that, looks like you are to talk about how important being an individual person is - how to not be part of the crowd, or another sheep just following whomever is in front. Your instructor wants you to show in the book by describing how Rand showed this - but you should describe it as though you were telling the story. "Mary wore what she wanted to, whether or not her friends or mother approved of it. One week, she wore leather knee high boots, and a polka dot bikini to the movies"...ok not a great example but one that suffices.
