There are two ways to free space on your hard drive. First is the utility included with Windows XP (amusing XP is what you have).

Go to: Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>Disk Cleanup

This will guide you through the disk cleanup wizard that will free up space on your hard drive. This utility will NOT delete any files that you have created. It will only delete files that Windows XP has created. For example temporary files that the system does not need to run.

The second way is to get an external hard drive! Another good alternative is to buy a flash drive. These come in handy. Hope this helped, and feel free to contact me with any more questions. Good luck!

If you do not want to go through all the trouble of replacing your existing hard drive then add an external HD or HD enclosure. I sell some real nice ones and my favorite holds two SATA hard drives with no need to have an operating system and you can have over a terabyte of additional space if you wanted. IM me if you need other hints on upgrading your PC.

If you want speed you need a new and faster processor. If you do this then you will also need new hardware that is compatible for the new system.

For space, you need a hard drive with space up to your needs.

replacing your hardrive is a very complicated procedure as it contains all of your opertating systems components, so without it u cant do anything. the easiest thing to do is to find a large external hardrive which u can pick up for around £80 for a decent one, they start around 50/60 but if u neva want to get another 1 nd ur gona b needing it alot of space buy a decent one like 200Gb or sumink

I see that someone or something tolled u that u must upgrade, but you were left just like this, without any details.....in future times, you must insist on getting details on what you need that upgrade. I suggest you go and talk face to face with a friend, and i STRONGLY suggest NOT TO go for answers at a PC-SHOP.

If all you need is more disk space, I'd get a USB external drive. Just plug it into your current pc and you'll have a ton more space. Very cheap and easy.

One of a few possibilitites. Upgrade the current drive, get a second drive and install it as a slave drive or get an external drive and move saved files (pictures, movies, music, office docs) to the external.

First, you need to figure out why you want to upgrade. Is it running slow? Is it not working?

Second, figure out what your budget will be.

Third, go to computer stores, or their web sites, and see what they have in your price range. Don’t be afraid to chat with the clerks for advice, but be careful to not buy without researching it first. Upgrading can get expensive and you don’t want to buy what you don’t need.

Hope that helps. Good luck! :)

You can ether delete programs on your PC to free up space, or you can buy another hard drive. Most PC's these days got 2 slots to put in another hard drive, if your PC does not, then buy another one.

You can go through the hassle of searching through all of your files and deleting the ones you don't use or need, or, purchase another hard drive and start using that as storage.
