Some people assume just because someone is rich or famous that they must be smart. I don't understand the concept much either considering the profound public stupidity of people like Meryl Streep, Sean Penn, Lindsay Lohan, Alec Baldwin, Ted Danson, George Clooney, Martin Sheen...ad nauseum. The politicians like the name recognition that stars provide, and the stars get to appear as if they are not just lucky slobs who make a living pretending to be something that they are not.

Becuase of their ego. They have a little money and lots of people like them so then they think they are it. They aren't it. When the scripts stop coming in or you have no more fans then they will learn that they are just a regular person like everyone else. You can only live on the millions a certain amount of years if you don't save and spend wisely. Most movie stars can't live without the money. Why do you think George Clooney and Julia Roberts keep making movies? Cause they live lavishly and they need the paychck to supplement their cravings.
Money = they know everything.

It's either an ego thing or infatuation with the movie star. Some people, just think that movie stars have everything going for them, cause of who, what and where they are in life-so they figure they know it all. Even though, past mistakes have proven that isn't so..

I don't think people past a certain age do take a movie star's word as gospel. Once you're out of your teens, you quickly figure out that you're just listening to the opinion of an extremely good-looking, highly overpaid individual.

...commercials are paid actors... because doctors are camera-shy...
but people have a tendency to listen to people they idolize... and there's just not that many senators or whatever out there that kids grow up wanting to be like. it's kinda sad, but all the corruption is a part of that, and then the fact that america doesn't have any attention span left, movies are just easier and more fun to watch than comittees on c-span

I think people are used to seeing these actors play intelligent people on TV and in the movies, and they just don't realize that most of them are dumb as a stump.
