Clearly, they are the best team in the division, and will be fighting for a spot in the World Series...

and you forgot to mention Randy Wolf.

How awesome is this.

U damn right!..here is he final NL West Division standings for 07

1 LA Dodgers 95- 67 -
2 Arizona 82- 80 13
3Colorado 81- 81 14
4 San Fransico 79- 83 16

I'm not an expert or a baseball watcher too much. I am forced to watch the Dodgers around my friend a lot. The trend I have noticed the last few years is they have great pitching, start the year off great then can't keep up with the bat. Too many low scoring games where they end up on the wrong side.they clearly need a couple sluggers. thats my unbiased opinion

I admit as a Dodgers fan that there not the best overall team just yet but with a weak NL West division (which includes rebuilding teams Arizona & Colorado, an aging team in San Francisco), it comes down to two offensive-challenge teams in the Padres and Dodgers. Both finish with the same identical record, but S.D. won the division. This offseason, the Dodgers are busy building a team again:

1) Juan Pierre is the new leadoff man, forcing Furcal to bat #3 in
the lineup
2) Nomar Garciaparra is back
3) Takashi Saito is back (a discount for a closer)
4) Randy Wolf is coming as the only left-hander in the rotation
5) J.D. Drew did the best thing for Big Blue by opting out of L.A.

and now they land the second-best FA pitcher to a short-term deal in Jason Schmidt and are close to getting Luis Gonzalez (but it's only rumor for now).

What have S.D. done this offseason? Well:

1) They lost Dave Roberts to their NL West rivals Giants, along with manager Bruce Bochy

2) They're reluctant to trade Jake Peavy to Boston for Manny Ramirez

3) They lost Woody Williams, their team leader in Wins.

4) Trade Josh Barfield

5) Let Mike Piazza go (although that was expected)

The only positive thing is getting former Angels pitching coach Bud Black as their new manager and getting Greg Maddux, but what's Black going to do with the same team from a year ago?

Here's how the lineup is going to go coming to 2007 (projected as of 12/6/2006):

Dodgers:

1) CF Juan Pierre
2) C Russell Martin
3) SS Rafael Furcal
4) 2B Jeff Kent
5) 1B Nomar Garciaparra
6) LF Luis Gonzalez
7) 3B Wilson Betemit
8) RF Andre Either
9) Pitcher Spot

Rotation:
1) Jason Schmidt
2) Derek Lowe
3) Brad Penny
4) Randy Wolf
5) Chad Billinsley

Relievers:
Takashi Saito
Jonathan Broxton
Brett Tomko
Mark Hendrickson
Joe Beimel

Padres:

1) CF Mike Cameron
2) SS Khalil Grenne
3) RF Brian Giles
4) 1B Adrian Gonzalez
5) C Josh Bard
6) 3B Kevin Kouzmanoff
7) LF Paul McAnulty
8) 2B Luis Cruz
9) Pitcher Spot

Rotation:
1) Jake Peavy
2) Chris Young
3) Greg Maddux
4) Clay Hensley
5) Mike Thompson

Relievers:
Trevor Hoffman
Scott Linebrick
Scott Cassidy
Cla Meredith

Decide for yourself who's going to win between the Padres and the Dodgers. To me, not to be bias, but I'm going with the Dodgers to win the NL West, as well as most experts would predict coming to 2007.

I am a long time Dodgers fan, really happy to see the Blues crew pick up Schimdt, great addition to the pitching rotation, Dodgers has a shot to win it all with this kind of rotation.

Would like to see the Dodgers pick up a power hitter to protect Nomar, Sosa's name was mentioned, how about Bonds?

I hope LA gets Barry too. Schmidt is an over the hill has been, Dodgers just wasting their money.

I have to admit they do but I don't think that guarantees anything the Dodgers haven't been able to do anything in a long time.

Gooooo Padres!!!
