No, air resistance is what makes a parachute work. With no atmosphere, a parachute would not open or slow you down. Simply put, you would fall like a rock.

Yes you could skydive on the moon. Keep in mind that the moons gravity is fairly weak. You would just need some nitrogen tanks and nozzles for a simple thrust pack. You could slow yourself down during the last 50 feet or so and land nicely. The only reason the astronauts in the movies we have seen stick on the moon so well is because they wear lead belts and things on their ankles. (even then they bounced around pretty good)

No atmosphere, no resistence on the chute..it would be fun but you would fall without any break in spped and what little gravity there is would make your landing a rough one

no. since the parachute you would deploy relys on cathing air to slow you down, there would be no air to catch. also, there would be no friction with the air to slow you down at all. therefore, you would hit the ground at top speed: probably not a good idea.

there is no gravity so i guess it would be safe since you wont fall unless you push yourself twards the surface
