i ran from a cop and my friend tried to run the cop down. they got us both and now he is being charged with attempted murder. he did not shoot anybody. they beat me after chasing for about eight blocks. was i wrong or the cops.

Why would a nice person like you run from a cop?
You didn't say what suspicious activity you were up
to at the time. You must be a wimp. You were
definitely wrong. Murder can be done with any kind
of weapon (strangling, gun, rope, knife, alcohol, and
even a car running down someone would be murder).

Both of you were wrong, you shouldnt have ran from the cops in the first place. If your story is true then the cops had no reason to beat you.

1. Why did you run? What were you guilty of? If you ran, you were probably guilty of something. This makes you in the wrong.
2. Your friend tried to run down a policeman with a vehicle. That's attempted murder regardless of whether or not he used a gun.

You where in the wrong.
The cop was just doing his job, if you were doing any thing illegal you don't have much to worry about (unless you are black in new york or LA)
the maybe shouldn't have beat you though, but you where still in the wrong.
and there is no question that you friend is in the wrong for trying to kill someone.
the only thing you can do is take what ever punishment is dealt to you.

All cops around the world are just plain STUPID. They think since they have the power to do what they want, they acn charge people with what they want. all the want is to look like they were all helpless

It matters what you are being charged with. You shouldn't have run... but you did get beaten. Get a good lawyer.
