There are several subspecies of cobras that appear to spit. That action is caused by the opening in the snake's fangs being on the front of the fang instead of being at the tip.
When the snake is threatened it opens its mouth wide and contracts muscles around the venom glands to force venom forward through the openings in the fangs. The snake is capable of aiming this venom stream quite accurately and often aims for the eyes of whatever it feels to be threatening it.
This behavior is strictly defensive. The snake uses its fangs as other cobras do to bite and envenomate its prey.

as far as i know the only spitting snake is the spiting cobra because there fangs are design to do so. so they can protect themselves against larger predators

not many venamous snakes spit there poisonous vemon at predators, but some do. so don't aggrivate them.
