I received Severance pay from my employer for 4 weeks, when I go to apply for unemployment benefits, it asks me if I have received any Severance pay, if i put down the amount and everything, will they hold my benefits till after the 4 weeks is over?

It depends on how much the severence is, but yes it may possibly keep you from getting a U.I. check the first 4 weeks.

Ok. I read your question again. If you have already received the severance BEFORE you apply for the U.I. it will NOT affect your unemployment. Only if you are going to be receiving the severance while you are trying to draw U.I. benefits will it affect you. (clear as mud?)
