Yes we stayed at the brand new Riu Palace Punta Cana the week of May 20th of this year. It was one of the best vacations I have ever experienced. The people we so friendly and the Riu Palace was first rate. Brush up on you Spanish as it will help. I am sure there are other great resorts there but The Riu was great. Also it will be hard to find beaches that rival Punta Cana is sheer beauty. Hope this helps a little.

the beaches r really nice over there, and pools and the resort i went to all the food and drinks were free, the lil bars they have in the pools are cool, u get to sit on these stools in the water and have a drink.
they also had this shows in the resort at night sometimes, they also have this "banana" boat that u ride on top of attached to a speedboat and it goes around the ocean and then they purposly take a sharp turn so u fall out.
Also they have parasailing and scuba diving (in the ocean and/or pool jus for practice) pool tables were also situated in certain areas too and probably a few other things i forgot to mention...
what to bring is sort of common sense if your going to a tropical area like punta cana, sunscreen, shorts, skirts, sunglasses, money...yea like u would forget that right? lol and etc
If your only gonna be in punta cana thats about all to expect there, mostly tourist stuff and attractions/resorts other cities of coarse r a different story.

We are planning on going in April ourselves. this will be our 3rd trip. We are planning on going back to sun scape the beach. it is a beautiful resort. I recommend on going on the out back safari. this guided trip takes you into the country side and get to see how the people live. we have also gone para sailing, snorkeling, ATV and walking on the beach. each hotel offers different things to do.
what to bring any meds that you take. I packed a small first aide kit. sun screen, summer clothes, insulated cup for drinks. if you think you might needed take it. cost a lot more than from bring it from home. drink bottled water only and make your coffee from the bottled water also, brush teeth also with the bottled water.
white to brown sand it matters where you are staying. mountains, friendly people. wonderful food. tips go along way down there.
can not wait until we go in April.

Our hotel room was robbed while we were at the beach. they took only everything of value that we left in THE SAFE, as were were instructed to do on the bus to the resort and at the front desk. We were very disappointed and wouldn't go back. Don't take anything you wouldn't want to see running down the street with a bunch of beggars. We were treated to beggars a couple of times. If you've already spent the money...go and try to have a good time but be on your guard and don't take anything you deem valuable.
