Yep. Fear of the number 13 started in medevil folklore when 13 people were seated at the Last Supper (this is also where the friday the 13th superstition came from; Jesus being cruxified on a Friday).

Yes it really is just superstition. They used to omit the 13th row from aircraft too but I think they have stopped with that nonsense now.
