I am rather uneducated on how to make a webpage. I am a Mortgage Loan Officer. I would like to make a webspage that allows people to either submit a request for a loan, or simple to ask a question. If I do make a website, how to do make sure that my site comes up on the first page of search results on engines like yahoo, google, msn?

You probably want to hire out the work. If you're feeling adventurous, open up a Notepad and type:

Then you can get started putting your webpage together in between those two tags.

As for being at the top of the search lists - the bigger search engines have bidding wars that companies engage in to promote search results. You could purchase the word "mortgage" for example, but you'd be in competition with all other companies vying for that term. You pay a per-click fee to the search engine when they have a user loop through one of their Sponsored links.

To answer the first part of your question, you can either code your web site using HTML code and a text-editing application, use a dedicated web site management software application (e.g. Dreamweaver), or use software or web-based page creation tools provided by your web site host. For the submit a request option, the easiest thing would be to direct them to dedicated email addresses (e.g. loanrequest@yourname.com and question@yourname.com) - that way, you'll have their address to reply to.

In terms of search engine optimisation, you should ensure your web site has relevant key words in its code (e.g. loan, mortgage) so that when people search for these things, it will be in the results. Your position in the results depends largely on how popular your site is, determined by how many *other* web sites link to your web site. So, if you contact other web site owners and offer to exchange links or have a lot of satisfied customers write about your services on their blog and put a link, your ranking will improve. However, there is no guaranteed way to ensure your site will always be at the top of a search engine's results list.

well if you want it to be a professional webopage go on to yahoo or google and search "basic html codes" html is the basic design languiage for building a webpage. if you want one that isnt design by you directly and you would like to use templates for your pages you could go to a website like lycos or angelfire or something along those lines and you can get free space and tutorials. If you want the webpage to be a businesses web page you may want to think about hiring a web designer to give you a basic idea about what you are looking at spending....Hope this helps also you could have someone that is knowledgeable about webpages and such do what you are asking for for less than $500 without a problem...

Your best bet may be to get someone else to do it for you. I'm not telling you that you CAN'T do it, just saying that its obviously not in your skill set. What it sounds like you want from a web page makes me believe that it would be a little more advanced than simple HTML can handle.
