I was talking sh*it about my boss with a couple of friends at work. Another co-worker (who I thought I had a good relationship with) overheard me and went to tell my boss. My boss called my friends to her office to confirm I had said this stuff, and the *****ing chickens confesed and confirmed it. I'm mad at them now of course. My boss hasn't called me yet to talk about it, but I know for a fact she'll say something sooner or later.

What should I do when she wants to talk to me about it?
And especially, what should I do with this noisy backstabber co-worker who went to her with the gossip?

Hey guys
don't tell me I ****** up, because I ALREADY KNOW I DID. I want to get back to the asshole who told on me, though. What would you do?

Well, let me be more specific...
My boss had actually talked **** about my friends TO ME, and I told them about it. So now my boss knows that I told on HER... She is too unprofessional, talking **** about her employees to other employees.....

If I worked at Wal Mart, I wouldn't give sh*it. But I work at an OFFICE, with "serious" people, so it's tougher.

Ok, "EnVy", I think you might have taken things a little too far... I wasn't criticizing her for free, I was letting my friends know that **** SHE had said about them. So let me correct myself,m I wasn't talking sh*it, I was telling on her and making her look like the ***** she is. So if you really look at it, I am in this mess right now for being honest, and trusting the people who surrounded me.

ok here's a good rule.. NEVER talk badly about your boss to ANY of your co-workers no matter who it is! sometimes people will try to start a conversation about the boos just to get you to say something you will regret.

a lot of work places now have cameras and audio that managers have access to even from home.

cover your own back and don't say anything bad about anyone you work with, you never know what might come back to haunt you, keep your guard up.

you just have to be careful with what you say, your own mouth can get you in more trouble than you think.

now for your second half of the question...

there is no need to get revenge on someone, how do you even know for sure that it was who yoou think it was?

it is not that person's fault you decided to be stupid and let your mouth run free, keep it on a leash and you won't have that problem.

haven't you ever heard, it is a dog eat dog world, survival of the fittest, just get a new job and watch your mouth.

It doesn't make them backstabbers by being HONEST. Maybe you should try it too.

This all goes back to the good ol' golden rule. Do unto others as you would want done unto you. Example: would you rather her lie bold faced to you or tell you the truth if you were in her position.

Try to be bold. Talking about people behind their back to make yourself look better is brought out by your own insecurities or even jealousy. The world is full of people like you that need to just look deep inside YOURSELF, find problems within YOU that you have control over and work on them. Rather than digging your dirty fingernails under other peoples skin. Get it?

*****IN RESPONSE*******

So you were being the good samaritan? Is that what your getting at?

OK OK "she started it" I get it

If that is the light you would like me to look at your question then my new answer would be, grow up. The "Oh my god! You will not believe what _____ said about you!" scene is uglier than the first picture that you painted.

I.M.O. your boss should fire you and hire more mature people to cut a paycheck. Good luck with that.

Well....sorry to say....but it's Karma. There's not much that you could have done. They probably don't want to lose their job because of you, so they probably don't think that you are the type of friend that they can't live without. Sorry to say it like that.....but there's no way to really sugar coat it. I think everyone here agrees that maybe this isn't the best question to be putting on here. You shouldn't be trying to get revenge on someone that is only watching out for their best interest in the first place. Remember it's a dog eat dog world out there.

Nevertrust co-workers w/ work related gossip. Keep work professional, don't spend personal time with them and start looking for another job!

As for your boss, it depends on what you said - was it true? Your true opinion? I would apologize to her, but know that things will never be the same.

Never, ever, ever talk about your boss to anyone! Walls have ears, and every single thing you say can be repeated by anyone who hears, even though they PROMISE they'll keep quiet. Just take this as a life lesson learned, and take whatever punishment your boss gives like a man!

Merry Christmas!

i would confront ur coworker-that usually puts them in a difficult spot and makes them look stupid. as for your boss she may not say anything and if she does explain to her that you were just having a bad day and that you were not the only one-however u aplogize - and i would not ever trust your co workers again
