I have a student staying - very pleasant and nice. However..... he does seem to eat an awful lot and I was wondering if people have had any similar experiences and what they have done about it. Also he goes out and asks me to leave some dinner on the side for him. Is this reasonable? Should I say dinner is served at 7 and if he is not here there is no dinner?

yes i do. all you need to do is to cook "normally", dont really need to cook extra for him. just cook it, tell him dinner is served at tht time, and if you are goin out, micrwave it when u come back.

just cook a normal portion...dont need to cook extra. see what he have to say, if he complains, say thats wt we have for dinner, that shud be enough. if you want more, buy himself some more. cuz wt he payin is wt he gets, theres no free lunch in the world.

I think that if you have a guest and it is an extended stay such as yours then you have every right to tell them dinner is at 7 and if you aren't here then you miss the meal, and may find the left overs in the fridge, however please don't cook another meal after so and so time since I must get up in the morning. Reasonable, yes.

if he is paying extra for meals then u should provide them
i dont think u should set meal times for him cos if he is like any other teenager he will never be back on time
leave his meals in the fridge if that what he wants
we had 2 students stay with us and they didnt eat much
they were probably out eating McDonalds and sweets all day

I would give a time if he has no reason to be late then he can go hungry.
