if two or more teams are equal on points, the first criteria to be used here is the head to head results between the teams concerned. as for Arsenal, FC Porto & PFC CSKA Moskva, although PFC CSKA Moskva failed to win in Hamburg last night, they will still be eliminated on goal difference between these three teams even if they win.

the head to head results between these three teams is equal, i.e: one win, two draws & one defeat = 5 points. Arsenal (+1) & FC Porto (0) qualified for the knock-out stage as they have the better goal difference, thus eliminate PFC CSKA Moskva (-1) to the 2006-2007 UEFA Cup 3rd round.

If CSKA Moscow win and Porto and Arsenal draw then all three teams will finish on 11 points. The count-back rule will then be used which means that results between the three teams will be put into a mini league.
In the mini league all three teams will be on five points but Arsenal will have a goal difference of +1, Porto will have 0, and CSKA Moscow will have -1 goal difference.
Therefore Arsenal and Porto will qualify.

The count back rule is when a team can be equal on points but then they look back at the games played against the other team on the same points and it depends on the scores as to who goes through.
It was like benfica and copenhagen ended on 7 points but benfica go through to the UEFA because they drew the first game but Benfica beat Copenhagen in the 2nd game.
