Americans like the English! We've always been pretty much alike really. I don't think the Iraq war makes a big difference cause we've always been alies in war time but I'm sure the US appreciates the support of the English people! Personally I think Margret Thatcher and Princess Diana along with Tony Blair are my favorite people.

Try to imagine for a moment the sheer scale of the country. It takes approximately 6 days to travel East to West and vice versa by car and about 2 to 3 days North to South. Americans don't tend to take holidays and are always work, work, working....Very rarely, in most states will you find American's having concerns over Great Britain. The larger cities where there are more educated people, you will find those who have an opinion on America's allies on a more intimate level. As a whole, the average American is trying to survive in a capitalist society and get on with their lives.
Great Britain, on the other hand, due to it's size and proximity to Europe, contains a lot more people with opinions on America.
Americans will usually notice a person is British after they have opened their mouths but for the most part, they do not go around spouting opinions about this tiny island.
It is impossible to generalise an American like so many newspapers in the UK attempt to do. If you were to travel to the states, you would find people are the same as you and influenced - like you would be by yours - by their culture.

The Iraq war thing makes no difference.
I don't think we dislike English people. But the stereotype in America is of English people being very uptight a sort of high-class, but with very bad humor (reference Monty Python's Flying Curcus). Either that or a sort of rocker-punk-rebel with green hair.

I am American. My girlfriend is Canadian. She is going to England for three months this coming spring.
I am very fond of British Tea, British Rock and Roll, British Beer and many things from the greater UK.
It helps that our language is the same and that we have some historical roots...but in general Brits seem like a very laid back group of people. You may not love them...but it would see hard to hate them.

all Americans have different views. Typically, I notice that Americans show a positive interest when someone is heard speaking with an accent or in another language. There are also some very hateful Americans that will make negative assumptions based on those accents.

I like English people, yeah. Even if I didn't I'd have to learn to love them because I'm part British, and the bigger half of my family lives in England.

I like English people, and always have.
It has nothing to do with the war; that our idiots and their idiots are allied means nothing.
