I read an article a while back that said Texas, Florida, California and Ohio had produced the most NFL players. I think it was in that order as well. The article was on one of those recruiting websites.

The true answer to this question is regional by position.
Florida and California are known for producing speed players. The best receivers and defensive backs tend to come from these states.
The Southern states like Georgia, Alabama, and Florida tend to produce the big, athletic offensive lineman that are so highly coveted at major college programs.
Pennsylvania, especially western PA and Ohio tend to produce an inordinate number of talented quarterback prospects.
Finally, Texas is widely regarded, more than any other state for their high school programs and the talent that they produce. They contribute great players to the college world at every position, especially running back and linebacker.

That's a tough one! I believe it is a toss up between Florida, Texas and California. If you take into account the size of the state compared to the other 2 I would answer your question with Florida.

Ohio has some of the best Highschool football...I really don't have any stats on it...But if you look at the Ohio St. Buckeyes and think about who has gone pro from there..Most of Ohio St. team every year is made up completely of Ohio boy's...Usually Michigan's top players are even from Ohio...Like Mario Manningham and Desmond Howard...
I've heard California, Texas, Florida also have great football..
