5000 motorcycle riders come into Houston for a three-day motorcycle rally and convention. Over 300 stay at a local hotel that rents videos. There are activities planned for each night at the hotel. One of the nights the motorcycle movie, Easy Rider, is being shown at the hotel. The person who owns the video forgot to bring a copy, but the hotel desks has a copy of it. Over 300 people show up to see the movie.

In California, a single viewer does not constitute a public performance. However, with 300 viewers, does the analysis change? Does the analysis change, if the movie is shown in a convention hall rather than a more private room?
What would happen if it was a personally owned video that was shown to the convention?
Is there a certain cut off for the number of people that creates a public performance? Is it 20, 50, 00 people?

Providing that the convetion is not open to the general public, and they are not charging an extra fee to view the movie, it can be considered a private viewing regardless of the number of people.

If the movie was about cheating on a test, they should show it to only two other people----someone else in their class who saw it on Yahoo Answers and the prof. who will change the questions on the test OR wait until the test papers come in and flunk the one that came from Yahoo Answers.
