If you bought the music elsewhere you'd still have to hunt it down... and if you don't then it is stealing from the artist and writers.
Piracy...

It's all about copyrights and licenses. Somewhere down the line is a songwriter who wrote that song. he/she wants his/her rights to it, then a person sings that song, it goes on an album, and is shipped to millions of stores all over the world.
It cost money to do all that, so in order for you to enjoy this great music you have to pay for them. Those people have to pay their bills. And those people running the site to allow you to download these songs, they have to sign an agreement or get shut down. The internet people need to beable to pay the certain people who own the music their share of each profit. And so on and so on.

because metallica is a bunch of assholes who thought that we should have to buy a whole album even if the **** they put out sucks ***....we started downloading songs because the music industry and the artist were only releasing one or two songs off the albums...they realised they were making money...but then downloading became sooooo popular people like lars ulrich hated the fact they were not making money off of us...this is just my opinion...

I also feel like if I like more than four songs from and album that I downloaded I just may go out and by the album...I think its silly to have to pay for them...but thats just the way it is!
