A scrapbook. Either fill it in yourself or get her the supplies to do one on her own. Talk with your local scrapbook store about maybe a class as well if she isn't very crafty.

Do you know what hobbies she has? Does she do the cooking? What kind does she love the most? Does she knit or crochet, or have any other hobbies? Does she work outside of her home? Does she collect anything? Is she an avid reader? Does she have a particular genre that she enjoys? Usually a family gift reveals that we know a little bit about what's important to them. You might ask someone else that knows some of the answers to these questions if they know. If all else fails, send chocolate! Expensive, melt in your mouth, to die for, chocolates. Men like chocolate but women need it! You can order some good ones on-line if you do it soon. example "Godiva" etc.

my mom loves wine, so i'm signing her up for the wine club. Every month for a year she'll get a new wine.
Find something she loves or something she needs. I usually start thinking ideas for christmas throughout the year. When I hear someone complain about not having a microwave or really wanting a certain pair of shoes, then i get that. Or maybe she loves a tv series and you buy her the DVD series. It means a lot more when its something that they've really wanted and you get them it. It shows them that you really were paying attention to them.

I personally like the day at a spa answer. It really just depends on what your Mom is in to. Like with my in-laws, they helped us cut down two trees this year. Well we saved the stumps and woodburned on the one and will be giving it to them. They're really into nature. I say find out what your Mom's passion is and fine tune the gift to fit that. Hope this helped, Good Luck.

Time with you. Set aside a day to take mom out....to dinner maybe a show...shopping ....something like that would be nice...moms just want to be with their kids....time is the most important thing to them ....especially as we get older...we tend not to spend as much time we our parents.
