I've heard of ... http://www.pianoiseasy.com/ , which is a numbering system, instead of lettering.

Any other recommendations?

Learning to play piano is REALLY EASY! It is easier to start on than most other instruments. However, learning to play well might not be so easy. But it is for SOME people.

I have played piano since the age of about 6. That's over 50 years now, most of which I have spent making a living by playing. I was able to do some things quite easily, but I had to work at it to get better.

In my 50+ years I have met MANY people who could literally just sit down and play! They didn't have to take lessons or anything. I am truly amazed by these folks, but they are out there! If you really want to play, just sit down and start doing it. Don't worry about doing it a certain way, just try to get the piano to sound like what you hear. MANY people are able to do this. You have to REALLY WANT TO PLAY to take this approach. Now if you are one of the people who can do this, fine. Go try it. The numbering system is o.k., but it is no easier than lettering. It's just a different system to learn. You are better off working by yourself for a while. Then if you realize you really CAN'T do it, look for a teacher. It is easier for MOST people to work with a teacher at first. But some people can just sit down and do it.

For the quickest and easiest way to get started on piano (or other instrument) with a teacher, look for someone who teaches the "Suzuki Method". You can change to more traditional methods later, but to get started Suzuki is quickest and easiest.

Buy a beginner book on playing the piano and then mark your keys with a piece of tape with the letters on it. This should help. Also if you have a family member or friend that plays ask them to help you.

Why look for an easy way? There are none. If you don't want to do something difficult, avoid being a musician.
