Ridding them of Saddam is a MAJOR accomplishment, whether you believe it or not. His rape rooms and torture chambers are closed. His genocide has been stopped. His two sons, who were even worse than he, are dead! The Iraqi people have a new government, a new constitution, have voted in THREE SUCCESSFUL elections.
The coalition has also worked to rebuild infostructure which Saddam let decay: schools, hospitals, etc... Not to mention that women are now free to educate themselves!

I was against the war from the start because I knew that Bush and Buddies had no knowledge of World politics and that they were creating a hornets nest fro terrorism with civil war in the mix. So I am not that objective. Nonetheless, the only thing that may have been acheived by the Iraqi War is a new American awakeing; a majority for democtrats congress and Senate, indicating that we want our democracy back. Ironically it woke us up to our own democracy and the fact that we are not tolerant of imperialist type leaders who lie and mess with our constitution. SO whilst the Iraqis have not acquired anything positive from this, we have achieved, at great cost to our country's credibility and at great costs to life of US and Iraqis. Hopefully over the years to come,we can make up the loss to them with a renewed vigorous diplomatic and reconstruction effeor and adhere to the 79 recommendations of the Iraqi Group let by Baker.

IT has given the Iraqi people hope that one of their sects will be the leader. So they can continue with their dictators.
Then let's not forget that it's given the American reason for the democrats to raise taxes.
Plus it's given the Bush President's the Iraq Legacy. Both father in son Presidents with the same country. Except daddy only had 4 years.
You want to put another Bush in and see if he continues with the Legacy?

The fact that women has rights now is nice ( they can actually get an education). The Iraqi's who were released from Saddam's torture chambers might be some what happy. There are also down sides for the people there but there is good. Only time will tell if it was right or wrong and I hope it turns out for the best.
It has helped the US citizens IMO because Saddam has made his desire to kill US citizens known for a long time and if given the opportunity he would have carried through,

We were all warned that this was not going to be a fast and easy process. I agree that the methods used as far as strategy should have been reevaluated after each year, but this is a huge undertaking. 25 million people who were under the thumb of a maniac now have the opportunity to go to school again, get excellent health care, and among other things equally as important, live in a society that values their opinions and voice in policy. They have the promise of living in a way they have previously not known. For all it's bad points, a free Democratic society has got to be a huge improvement for these oppressed people.
Some of us apparently need to step back and take stock...we are making a positive difference. Not acknowledging it doesn't make it any less a fact.

Of course 99.999999999999% of the Iraqi people are the major big time losers, followed by the American people. Halliburton et al has now got a lot of stolen money, which is who Dictator Dumbya is REALLY working for.

We managed to further de-stabilize an already unstable area. We found out some of our armed forces are sadists. We now know that technology can take you only so far against a well-entrenched enemy, the rest is up to the guys on the ground. Other than that, we learned that you cannot force Democracy on people. They have to want it and be willing to fight for it. We learned that invading a country is generally a bad idea. We didn't achieve a whole lot, but we did learn a lot!!

Nothing really except a significant loss of lives. There is still no freedom.
Iraqis do not have freedom. When your country is occupied, you are never free.
US troops are in a quagmire. and dying. Needlessly.
The young. Such a waste.
Halliburton and Cheney have gotten richer. Bush has gotten more arrogant and self-important.
U.S. troops are struggling with lack of equipment.
The members of the House and Senate have gotten older but not at all wiser.
Life in the United States still involves "watching your back".
People still question 911.
Osama languishing in Pakistan. Or dead.
Bush' hair.....whiter and whiter....
Everyone asking each other: "what to do, what to do"

Let me ask a question first...Have you been there? Have you seen it? How many Iraqi civilians have you protected against insurgance?
We have done so much it isn't even funny. Schools, water, food, rebuilding, training their military, asisted their government infrastructure, protected their children, and much more.
You only see what the media wants you to see. Don't pass judgement unless you have been there.
