every time i get off my truck, i get static shocks when i touch the door, how can i avoid that?

Cars are more likely to shock you these days (no pun intended) because tire manufacturers are switching to a silica compound instead of carbon. Silica tires have less rolling resistance (and I believe are less expensive to manufacture) than carbon tires. So if you don't want to be shocked you can switch tires or simply hold onto the door as you exit...

Static shock is most often caused by friction especially during
the winter months or in dry climates.
Most auto parts stores sell "static" straps that can be attached to
the rear underside of yout truck.They work pretty good,easy to
install,& inexpensive.
Or you can do as previously suggested & not let go of the door
until your feet touch the ground.
Some people,such as myself,have an inordinate amount of static
in their body.That can get real ugly under the right conditions.
If you cannot find static straps in your area they can be easily
fabbed out using strips cut from an old tractor or large truck inner
tube.Just mount them so that about 4" are laying on the ground
when the vehicle is sitting at rest.Works in a pickle.

Touch and hold the door BEFORE you slide off the seat!!
