A Taco dip is good. you take sour cream and cream cheese and mix it with taco seasoning. spread it out on the bottom of the 9x13 pan...layer it with cheeses and veggies like youd do on a taco. Then u dip tortilla chips or Doritos in it. Also little smokies cooked in crock pot with beef gravy and a couple tablespoons of grape jelly mixed in. another good dip is shrimp dip. Take one package of cream cheese softened...two individual jars of shrimp cocktail and mix it in with blender...use it on crackers of your choice. spinach stuffing balls are good. stuffed mushrooms are good. cut up kielbasa in crock pot with bar b que sauce is good

Most people in my part of the country (Chicago) have seafood on Christmas Eve. Shrimp and some dips would make a lovely spread for an after-church get together.

Last year for Christmas Eve I ordered some things off of the Swiss Colony website. They have loads of cheeses, meats, candies, cakes and cookies. One thing that was really yummy that I bought were the bagel crisps and cheese spreads. They were a big hit with my family, quite tasty.

Another thing I thought of that was different was Baklava. It's a Greek pastry desert with philo dough, walnuts (typically), spices and honey. It's very yummy. My Mom makes that for Christmas Eve, but it's quite time consuming so if you want to order it that might be another option. Lots of places sell that, including Swiss Colony.

Good luck to you!

8. Buy or bake some sugar cookies. And get some frosting and sprinkles. Then decorate your own cookies! It's alot of fun!

My family's traditional Christmas Eve dinner is homemade vegetable soup and cornbread served with finger food

. One thing I usually make is ham & swissies. To make them, choose some sort of roll, I use those small, square pull-apart kind. Cut sandwich ham into roll size pieces. Cut swiss cheese into pieces as well. In a small pan, melt butter or margarine. You can either dice onions very small and sautee them, or just use onion powder. Add worchesterchire sauce (I like quite a bit in mine) Split the rolls and brush both sides with the sauce mixture, then layer with the ham and cheese. You can make these as thick as you want, I use about 3 layers of meat and cheese. Drizzle any leftover sauce on the filling, then put the rolls together. Cover with foil and bake in the oven @ 350 until heated through. (about 30 minutes) These are so yummy!!

Another good thing is "redneck weenies" Just mix a jar of grape jelly and a jar of chili sauce (not hot dog chili, but the kind that comes in a bottle like ketchup) Put these in a crock pot with a couple of packs of small smoked sausages (little smokies cocktail sausages) Heat through. I know it sounds strange, using grape jelly, but it is sooooo good.

We also have a veggie tray and dip, and homemade chex mix.

The hubby and the grandkids make and decorate gingerbread men that we eat for dessert.

For appetizers we always have:

Cheese Cheese spread with crackers
Veggie Tray
Deviled Eggs
Cranberry Quick Bread

Last year we were at a friends house and they had some nice snacks like
Chipped Beef Spread (I'm sure you can get the recipe off the internet) with crackers
Shrimp Cocktail
Crab Dip (again you can probably get the recipe off the internet its made with canned crap, cream cheese and horseradish)
Pigs in a blanket

Pig in a blanket. All you need is to roll out some biscuits, put some of the little sausages in them, roll them up, and bake until the biscuits start to turn brown. It doesn't take long, isn't very expensive, but still tastes good. If there are going to be a lot of people, or you want it a little cheaper, you can also use hot dogs. As long as it's hot, got meat and bread, people will love it.

If you like whatever, go for Ham! Tiny pieces. If not try something healthier. Make bowls of salad and a splash of itallian dressing. Keeps for quite awhile. Good Luck

Shrimp cut and mixed with Heinz cocktail sauce. I usually add a little more garlic. Stir and serve over a plate of cream cheese with crackers on the side. It is to die for.
