JJ Steakhouse is really good. It's this small restaurant tucked away in Old Pasadena. That's if you have a little money to spend.
McCormick & Schmick's is also a good place for steak and seafood. It's a chain, so the price is a little more cost effective.

I would agree with Pinnacle Pete's. Make sure you wear a necktie, though.
but if you must stay closer to Pasadena, I'd say Ruth Chris Steakhouse on Colorado @ Los Robles or Arroyo Chop House on Arroyo Parkway, near Parkway Grille.
