You should look for quality, age and make sure there are no dents, loose screws or pads also look at the quality. DON"T buy a sky flute. Expect to pay at least $100. EBay's a good place. Armstrong is probably the best. I've played for 3 years.

You might try some pawn shops. Wife found a solid silver Gemenihardt one time, whe she gasped at the price of $150, the attendant immediately said... we could prolly sell it for $125.(the gasp was for how cheap it was... not how expensive, but the attendant didn't know anything about flutes) We did take it for $125!!!! It has been a very good flute. You might expect to have any second hand flute re-padded. Consider that in the purchase price. E-bay has a good selection where you can compare pricing and see whats available.

well what you do i (if you live near south bend, indiana) go to wood wind and brass wind and buy a flutw, but ask to talk to Mr. Kritzwhile. Tell him your a friend of the Widners, he should give you a discount.
