Mike Vick is a terrible QB. His receivers are open all of the time he just misses them and decides to take off running. Eventually his receivers give up looking for the ball because they figure he is just going to run with it like the little ***** he is. The next time you watch a Falcons game look at the body language of his receivers, they appear to be surprised the ball is coming and they overconcentrate which causes them to lose focus. Yes it is possible to overconcentrate. Also, Mike Vick has no touch so sometimes his receivers are forced to catch a 100mph 10 yard slant play. Mike Vick is stupid which is evident by the fact that Jim Mora is dumbing down the offense for him (Who in the NFL runs the option play, oh brother what a piece). Mike Vicks only chance of winning a super bowl is to join his brother at wideout in Miami.

Its just a ongoing trend. Most 1st round drafted wide receiver lack the work ethic needed in the nfl. Look at all the players that have struggled as 1st rounders. Mike Williams, Charles Rogers, Antonio Bryant, Braylan Edwards, all the falcons and even to a lesser extent Mark Clayton. For most of these guys that god given ability only took them so far and they lack the work ethic.

Bad scouting + poor play-calling (Look for Alge, if he's not open, then run) = anemic offense.
The Falcons' #1 WR would be a #4 anywhere else in the league. Not to mention that you have (possibly) the most overrated player in sports history under center, and the offense is anemic.

4 letters: B-U-S-T. It's not really bad scouting, but people just don't live up to hype.
